[ARCHIVED] From the Town Manager: Thursday, August 9, 2018

The public is encouraged to use best judgment and pay close attention to any Department of Health or FDEP announcements prior to using the beach and or going into the nearshore waters. Attached is one of  many links for updated information http://myfwc.com/redtidestatus

As of mid-day, Red Tide conditions were still at high levels on Fort Myers Beach. Currently, there is still minimal drift algae and fish coming ashore across the island. Staff is continuing to monitor the situation and the town’s contract team will react to events as they may occur.  The back bay cleanup is continuing as needed as well.
