[ARCHIVED] From the Town Manager: Thursday, August 2, 2018

With the start of the new school year quickly approaching, the Town of Fort Myers Beach wants everyone to enjoy the upcoming weekend by visiting Fort Myers Beach and supporting our local businesses so the Town is offering FREE PARKING at our pay stations and parking meters starting from 4 pm Friday, August 2nd, 2018 until 9 am on Monday August 6th, 2018.

The Town and its contract partners’ team are diligently working to remove fish and algae coming in with each high tide onto the beach and out of the canals. Cleaning efforts are also underway by 4 crews in the back bay - Matanzas Pass Bridge to Publix has been picked up and Publix to FishTail Marina is currently in progress.  The first sweep of the beach is complete from the pier to Bayview Avenue and the associated debris has been piled for disposal via daily dumpster hauling. The remaining areas will continue to be cleaned every day until the daily landings of fish and algae cease coming ashore.  Lee County is responsible for cleaning the beach from the pier northward Bowditch.
