At this time the algae is being placed into piles in different locations along the shoreline. Environmental Staff asks that the public not touch or dig through these piles as there are fish that are mixed in with the algae. Although the beach is cleaner, there is still red tide present on the island so please be aware of this fact while spending time on the beach. The following beach accesses/areas are closed due to heavy equipment accessing the beach: Pink Shell, Bel-Air Beach Club, Avenue A, Palm Avenue, Seaview, Hercules Drive, Bayview Avenue, Dakota Avenue, Wynndham, and Flamingo.
The last lab test results for Red Tide was on Friday Lynn Hall Park has High levels of red tide, Lover Key State Park has Medium levels of red tide. Samples are collected on Wednesday and results published on Friday.
The newest sampling for Enterococci Bacteria took place on Monday and are currently undergoing testing. Last week’s analysis showed Good levels of bacteria (this means little bacteria is present in the water)
