There are currently multiple cleanup efforts on Fort Myers Beach for red drift algae conditions.
The Town has received permission from Florida Department of Environmental Protection to rake the beach in regard to the drift algae that is washing ashore and cleanup is currently underway. Town staff and beach raking contractors will work cleanup and monitoring conditions throughout the weekend.
