At this morning's Town Council Meeting, Scott Safford was sworn in as the fifth Council Member.
A vacancy was created when Bill Veach resigned in December 2023, which allowed for applications to be taken for the fifth Town of Fort Myers Beach Council Member position. It was a unanimous vote by the current Council Members to have Safford fill the vacancy.
Safford has been a resident of Fort Myers Beach for the last 15 years. He owned the Sea Gypsy Inn and currently is the owner of Sea Gypsy Vacation Rentals on Fort Myers Beach. A longtime member of the business community, Safford served as a member of the Local Planning Agency (LPA) for 8 years prior to joining Council. He has his Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Dallas and his Masters degree in International Finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
A few fun facts about Safford are he was the Florida State Champion in Curling three years in a row, his favorite food is tacos, and he enjoys taking walks on the beach with his Goldendoodle Mac!
