We will once again be hosting a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve though this year promises to be bigger and better thanks to generous donations. The fireworks will start at midnight from a barge in the Gulf.
Traffic is expected to be heavy in the Downtown District. It is recommended that visitors consider using the convenient public transportation options offered by LeeTran.
- The free open-air beach trams will extend service until 1 a.m. from Bowditch Point Park to the beach library.
- Route 410 from Bowditch Point Park to Lovers Key State Park will extend service times to 1 a.m. Jan 1, 2024, following the fireworks festivities.
- Route 490 which travels between Times Square and the Beach Park and Ride at 11101 Summerlin Square Drive will run its normal service until the last departure off the beach around 10:35 p.m. At that time, a shuttle service will start from the Main Street Park & Ride (at the foot of the Matanzas Pass Bridge) to the Beach Park and Ride until 1 a.m. Jan 1, 2024, following the fireworks festivities. Riders seeking transportation from the beach to the Beach Park and Ride after 10:35 p.m. will need to walk over the bridge to the Main Street Park and Ride to catch a shuttle to the Beach Park and Ride.
PLEASE NOTE: The Matanzas Pass Bridge will be closed to oncoming traffic from midnight to 1:30 a.m. Big Carlos Pass Bridge on the sound end of the Island will be open.
For information about Town parking click here. The Town operates several hundred pay-for-parking spaces in and near the Downtown District and beach accesses and there are also several commercial lots.
Please help keep everyone safe and the festivities enjoyable by observing the Town’s ordinances that prohibit personal fireworks displays in any part of the Town, including the beach, and open containers of alcohol outside the boundaries of Times Square. Also, please dispose of trash in the proper receptacles.
