FREE Household Waste Collection Event at Bay Oaks is THIS FRIDAY, April 30, 8 a.m. to Noon

Household waste collection day at Bay Oaks is April 30 2021

Safely and responsibly dispose of household chemical waste (HCW) such as leftover paints, cleaners, herbicides, pesticides, automotive fluids and pool chemicals.


This event is socially distanced, no contact, you do not even have to leave your car!


Hosted in partnership with Lee County Solid Waste, this no charge collection event will be from 8 a.m. to noon at Bay Oaks Recreational Campus, 2731 Oak Street. Drop off is an easy, drive-through process available to all residents.

The Town is offering FREE turtle-friendly lighting inspections on Wednesdays after sunset. 


FWC has a list of fixtures and bulbs that are Certified as Wildlife Friendly.

Be sure to install bulbs and fixtures in accordance with the “required options” to be in compliance, and help sea turtles get safely to the water.

July 4th fireworks celebration will be held this year after postponement last year due to COVID

PS Survey

People who live in, work in, or visit the Town of Fort Myers Beach are being asked to take part in an  online survey  conducted by the Public Safety Committee.

The survey is designed to determine the community’s level of need and interest in the possible development of a community policing/neighborhood program.

Topics that the survey addresses include pedestrians, homelessness, bike traffic lanes, law enforcement response, street lighting, and neighborhoods.

The Public Safety Committee will review the results and make recommendations to Town Council.

Deadline to take the survey is May 28.



Summer camp returns to Mound House

Summer camp kids at Mound House after kayaking

Featuring fun themes each week for children ages 6 to 10, camp will be operated by Super Science and Amazing Art, starting June 14 and ending July 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Three camp days each week will be at Mound House and two camp days will be at Newton Beach Park. Precautions to prevent the spread of COVID will be followed according to CDC standards.

Because vaccinations have been available since April 5 to all adults ages 18 and up in Florida, Town Hall is now open for walk-in service during all regular hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Appointments are still strongly encouraged to minimize wait times. Please call 239-765-0202 to schedule an appointment with the appropriate department. NOTE: All employees in Town Hall might not yet be fully vaccinated.
