The Army Corps of Engineers is dredging Matanzas Pass until the end of the year, conditions permitting.
Pumping of the bottom sediment of the pass is occurring at the moment in the north end of the island out to the Gulf with the contents releasing about 300 to 400 feet offshore. Currently, the contents are being discharged in the Gulf near the Lani Kai, but the end point will move south through the water periodically, ending up around Junkanoo.
