Town Council created this board by approval of Ordinance 20-13 at its meeting on September 2, 2020. The board's purpose is to promote, protect, and improve the health, safety and welfare of residents by providing an equitable and effective method to reduce the use of property within the Town for the unlawful sale or delivery of:
- controlled substances
- prostitution
- youth and street gang activity
- gambling
- illegal sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages
- lewd or lascivious behavior
Members are appointed by Town Council to three-year terms. The ordinance calls for seven members who must be residents. Each of the five Town Councilors appoints a member. The remaining two members are appointed collectively for "at large" positions.
One member is required to be a licensed attorney in good standing with the Florida bar, and one member is recommended to be a retired law enforcement officer.
