Building Code Change
Effective June 30,2015, all building permit applications must be in compliance with the Florida Building
Code, 5th Edition 2014. The last day to submit under the 2010 code was June 29, 2015.
All masters will need to be updated to the Florida Building Code,
5th Edition 2014 if permits will be applied after June 29th, 2015.
Building Inspection Information:
All building permits issued beginning June 1, 2015 will be able to take advantage of the online inspection
request system at http://etrakit.fortmyersbeachfl.gov/etrakit3/ .
Remember all re-inspection fees must be paid prior to requesting an inspection. Payments are received in
Town Hall M-F 8:30am to 4:30pm or by phone (239) 765-0202 ext. 1350 .
If an inspection is requested before 4 pm, the inspector should be on site the following work day.
If you need to reach the inspector on the day of the inspection please call (239) 533-5801 between
7:30am - 8:00am.
The Town was graded with an excellent score of 4 for
1&2 family residential and a score of 4 for commercial and industrial property. With a range of 1-10, where
1 is the best and 10 is the worst, a score of 4 in each category is an indication that the building department
does a very good job of maintaining up-to-date building codes and enforcing said codes. Please see the

Procedures and Requirements
***Note: For all swimming pool, spa, and hot tub permit applications, the Design Professional must provide a letter indicating that he will be providing a site specific Raised Sealed Letter for each permit application, which identifies the required pump make and model,
pump curve, pipe lengths, flow rate x GPM, and life x years for
drain / grate cover, address, or permit number.
