  1. Question: Our street has a pothole and water is not draining off after a rainstorm; whom do I call to get action?

    Answer: You can either call Public Services at Town Hall (765-0202) or file a Citizens' Request for Action by clicking HERE. If the problem is on Estero Boulevard (which is owned by Lee County), call the Lee County Department of Transportation (DOT) at 335-2852.

  2. Question: There is a dog running loose in our neighborhood and it is acting strangely. Who can handle this problem?

    Answer: Call Lee County Animal Services at 239-432-2083 to handle any animal problems within the Town of Fort Myers Beach.

  3. Question: We have children playing in our neighborhood. Whom do I call to report cars that repeatedly speed down our street?

    Answer: Call the Sheriff's Department West District office at 239-477-1830.

  4. Question: Whom do I speak with about Zoning issues?

    Answer: Call the Planning and Reviewing staff at Town Hall 765-0202 with the initial question to zoning related to a property in the Town of Fort Myers Beach.

  5. Question: Where do I go to get a Building Permit?

    Answer: Call Permitting Information at Fort Myers Beach Department of Community Development 2523 Estero Blvd. phone no. 765-0202 ext 113 Fax no. 765-0909

  6. Question: The noise coming from a party being held next door is driving me crazy. Is there a law against loud noise?

    Answer: Yes. The Sheriff's office is responsible for enforcing the Town's Noise Ordinance. See #3 above for the telephone number.

  7. Question: There is a tree overhanging the street right-of-way and creating a traffic hazard. Can the Town handle this?

    Answer: Contact Public Services at Town Hall (765-0202)  or submit a Citizen's Request for Action by clicking HERE.

  8. Question: I think my car has been stolen or illegally towed? Do I call the Sheriff's Department?

    Answer: Yes. Call Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 477-1830.

  9. Question: An unsightly pile of trash has been sitting on my neighbors lawn for over a week or a local business has a garbage dumpster overflowing with garbage.  What can I do?

    Answer: Call Town Hall at 765-0202 to report the problem, or submit a Citizen's Request for Action by clicking HERE, which will be forwarded to our code enforcement officer.

  10. Question: There is a dolphin stranded on the beach; whom do I call to get help?

    Answer: For any marine mammal that is stranded or dead, call the Fish and Wildlife Commission at 1-888-404-3922.

  11. Question: The beach is littered with dead fish apparently from "Red Tide". Who's responsible for cleaning up this stinking mess?

    Answer: After a large fish kill, the Town will pick up dead fish.  Private landowners are responsible for cleaning and/or raking their own beach. County or public areas of Fort Myers Beach do not rake the beaches except in a extreme red tide/ red algae event. During such event, the Town’s Mayor will make the decision whether not to rake the beach.  This action is governed by the Town's Land Development Code.

  12. Question: When am I supposed to extinguish all lights facing the beach to protect the loggerhead turtles as they hatch and return to the sea?

    Answer: Yes, May 1st through Oct. 31st  of each year and for all other questions or to report a lighting violation call Lee County Environmental Sciences at  479-8353 or FMB Code Enforcement at 765-0919 Ext 108.

    To report nests, disoriented hatchlings and dead or injured sea turtles, call Turtle Time, Inc. (239) 481-5566. Turtle Time's home page on the Internet is http://www.turtletime.org.

  13. Question: I want to make some major changes to my boat dock. Do I need a permit?

    Answer: Yes. Call Fort Myers Beach Permitting Information at 765-0202-ext 113 to get information on the process and depending on your plans from which agencies you will need permits.

  14. Question: My neighbor is building a deck on his house that is too close to my property line. Who handles code violations?

    Answer: Call Code Violations at Fort Myers Beach Community Development at 239-765-0202 ext 108 or call Town Hall at 239-765-0202 and ask for Code Enforcement..

  15. Question: How can I find out the trolley schedule?

    Answer: Call LEE TRAN at 533-8726 (LEE-TRAN) or look up a schedule on their website www.rideleetran.com.
  16. Question: I want to change the sign in front of my business. Who handles sign permits?

    Answer: Call Julie Brown at Town Hall 239-765-0202. She is coordinating sign permitting and enforcement of the Sign Ordinance of the Town of Fort Myers Beach.

  17. Question: My property tax bill went up this year. Who can explain this to me?

    Answer: Call Lee County Property Appraiser staff , at 239-533-6100. You can also look up your parcel information yourself, directly from the Property Appraiser's web site www.leepa.org

  18. Question: What do I do if I am not getting the answers from the departments that I called?

    Answer: Please call Town Hall (765-0202) ,we need your feedback in those few situations when those responsible for delivering service are failing to perform satisfactorily. We also appreciate feedback when you have received an excellent response to your question.
