Fort Myers Beach General Election April 8, 2008

The Town of Fort Myers Beach General Election is April 8, 2008. The polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Absentee ballots may be obtained from the Lee County Supervisor of Elections, (239) 533-6300 or www.leeelections.com . There are five candidates who have qualified to fill three seats. The candidates are:

Jo List

Stephen Light

Bob Raymond

David Tezak

A January 29, 2008 referendum passed resolution 07-34, whereby candidates seeking election to the Town Council no longer need to designate a seat, and the candidate receiving the greatest number of votes will fill the available seats without requiring a majority vote. There will not be a run-off. On April 14, 2008 starting at 3:00 PM, the elected council members will be sworn in, and the Council will elect a mayor and vice mayor.

Campaign Signs

LDC Sec. 30-151 (d) Political and non-commercial temporary signs. Temporary political and non-commercial signs shall only be erected in accordance with the following standards:
Area and height. Temporary political signs shall have a maximum sign face area of 4 square feet and if mounted on the ground, a maximum height of 3 feet.
Timing and removal. For signs pertaining to any matter relating to an election: a period beginning 25 days prior to the election to which they relate and ending 5 days after said election.
