Beach elementary students sang the national anthem

Bayside Park and Times Square packed for Hurricane Ian remembrances

The Town's Hurricane Ian remembrance ceremony one year after the storm wreaked havoc on Fort Myers Beach was attended by about 300 people at the newly-restored Bayside Park. Several elected officials spoke including Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez. Mayor Dan Allers was the master of ceremonies.

Students from Fort Myers Beach Elementary School led the crowd in the national anthem and a beautiful memorial painting was unveiled and presented to the Town by Ed and Kim Ryan of Beach Talk Radio.

Following the ceremony at Bayside Park, the crowd moved to Times Square where the new clock was unveiled by donors George and Linda Merschman. Several hundred more people watched the unveiling.
