NOTICE: Beginning on Friday, April 30, 2010 at midnight continuing through May 29, 2010 at midnight, Lee County Utilities will be temporarily converting its disinfectant process from chloramines to free chlorine residual. This is a routine measure generally done on an annual basis. If you are on home dialysis, please contact Lee County Utilities at the numbers listed below for information on water filters. Tropical fish or aquatic animal owners should contact a local tropical fish store for appropriate pretreatment of water before adding water to tanks. Customers may notice a temporary change in the taste, odor and color of the water, which is not harmful. Drawing water and allowing the odor to dissipate improves taste and odor. Also, carbon filters (Brita pitchers) are a good choice to remove the chlorine taste and odor from drinking water. Again, this is a routine precautionary measure to ensure our customers of clean, safe potable water. The free chlorine residual will take one to two weeks to convert over after the flush has ceased.
