Community members interested in serving as volunteers to advise and support the work of Town government are encouraged to apply for current openings on four of the Town’s 10 advisory boards and committees.
The Town’s boards and committees exist to advise Town Council about Bay Oaks Recreational Campus, Matanzas Pass Mooring Field, Mound House, Newton Beach Park, finances, island preservation and history, marine and environmental resources, nuisance abatement, and public safety.
Available openings:
- Bay Oaks Recreational Campus Advisory Board (BORCAB) – advises about the Bay Oaks community center, recreation facility, and campus that provides visitors and the community with passive and active recreation, social and community activities (one position is open);
- Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) – assists the Local Planning Agency and the Historic Preservation Advisory Board with historic preservation matters (one position is open);
- Local Planning Agency (LPA) – promotes a positive community environment and ensures that the unique, natural characteristics of the island are preserved (one position is open);
- Public Safety Committee (PSC) – advises about transportation and safety issues to ensure the well-being of visitors and residents (two positions are open).
