Mayor Ray Murphy has sad news to share with the community of Fort Myers Beach.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to announce that Mayor Dan Hughes passed away this evening at his home surrounded by his friends and family.”
Mayor Hughes was instrumental in the Town’s beginning in 1995. He has served as mayor and on Town Council and in various leadership roles on Town committees ever since.
Our deepest sympathies to Dan’s family, many friends, and his Town of Fort Myers Beach family. He will be sorely missed and we are grateful for his irreplaceable dedication and service to the Town of Fort Myers Beach.
