[ARCHIVED] Public benches are available to memorialize loved ones

Benches (4)

The Town has a unique and visible way to honor loved ones through its Memorial Bench Program. The names of the deceased and a special saying can be put on a stationary bench in a public area of Town.

Many spots are available at Bay Oaks Recreational Campus and the Fort Myers Beach Community Pool. A few spots are available on Old San Carlos Boulevard. Times Square and all beach access locations are already taken.

The cost of the bench is $564 and includes installation. The inscription cost must also be paid at $4 per letter. Town staff secure a location, order, and install after receiving the application and payment.

Completed applications can be returned by email to RandyP@fmbgov.com or by calling Town Hall at 239-765-0202 to schedule an appointment for drop off. (Town Hall is closed to the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19.)

PLEASE NOTE: Purchasing a bench is considered a donation to the Town. The Town has the right of final decision of location. The Town does not have a responsibility to replace a bench if it is damaged or worn. Installation time varies depending on demand and material delivery times.

Questions can be addressed to the Public Works Department at 239-765-0202, ext. 1700, or RandyP@fmbgov.com.
