The parade, which happens this Saturday (March 12), runs nearly the entire length of the Segment 1 construction zone from Crescent Street to Lovers Lane. This means that the width for most of the parade route will be narrowed to two lanes (instead of the typical three lanes). Construction barrels and/or barrier wall will line most of the route from Lovers Lane north to Lani Kai/Yo Taco.
Parade watchers are asked to use caution in and around the construction zone. For your safety, watch your step and do not sit on construction barrier wall or barrels. Construction workers and Beach and Street Enforcement (B.A.S.E.) personnel will monitor the construction zone throughout the parade. Lee County Sheriff’s Office V.O.I.C.E volunteers will be stationed at intersections along the parade route and deputies will assist during the parade and throughout the weekend’s festival activities.
Lee County joins the Town of Fort Myers Beach in asking that no beads be thrown during the event. Parade participants have agreed this year to pass out candy to parade watchers rather than beads. Stay alert to children in and around the construction zone especially as the parade passes through the narrowed area.
